The year of 2017 is soon past us and you know what that means: IT’S CHRISTMAS TIMEEE!
Aaaaaaand you are therefore invited to some true Christmas hygge at the 9th of December from 11 – 17 o’clock at the Birkums Forsamlingshus!
It is an open event for all of Dansk ICYE’s members but is mainly for the exchangees, contact persons and for the host families. We thought that this would be a great chance for everyone to meet each other – to talk, to have fun but most importantly, to eat some delicious food.
Another aspect of the event is also to show the exchangees some of our Danish traditions when it comes to Christmas. We have loads and we would love to share them with you!
The programme for the day is gonna look something like this:
11.00 – 13.00: Making Danish Christmas decorations (A must do in the month of December)
13.00 – 16.00: Christmas lunch
16.00 – 17.00: Pakkeleg (A Danish Christmas present game)
We are thinking that the dinner is gonna be a sammenskudsgilde. In English the best translation would be Dutch treat or Bottle party but basically it means that everyone brings something to the table. The host families are going to bring warm dishes and exchangees and contact persons are going to bring bread, sliced meat, cheese etc. It’s going to be Danish style Christmas lunch. Don’t worry about what to bring. If you tell us that you are attending the event, we’ll tell you what to bring. That’s the easiest.
It would be awesome if you guys could bring a small present for the present game as well. For the exchangees, if you are not sure about what to bring, you can always ask your contact person :-).
RSVP is at the 1st of December so please tell us before that date if you are able to come or not. You can press “attend” at our facebook event but to sign up for the event you’ll have to respond to the email you have received. It is not enough to press “attend” at the event. It is also not enough to just show up. Please respect the effort we put in to make these events :-).
We are sure that it’s gonna be loads of fun so we hope that you’d like to come!
