Description of the project
The volunteer will be working in three different organizations, all situated in the same street in the middle of Aarhus city.
Short presentation of the three units and your future tasks
FrivilligCenter for Seniorer – Foreningsbutikken, Klostergade 35, 8000 Aarhus C., www.seniorfc.dk.
A volunteer center for primarily elderly people. At the center there is also a project for young people who work voluntarily among elderly people, and you will be involved in this project. The project is called Junior-Senior and consists of workshops on interesting topics like ethics, dementia, lifestory telling, as well as eating together and socializing. A place to get to know Danish young people.
KlosterCaféen, Klostergade 37, 8000 Aarhus C, www.klostercafeen-aarhus.dk
A non-profit café created to prevent loneliness amongst elderly people. In the café there are ca. 40 volunteers, most of them in the age 60-85 years. There are several events for especially elderly people are taking place.
The tasks in KlosterCaféen will be: Cooking and baking, serving food for the guests etc. Furthermore there will be some office tasks like writing menus and making posters for events.

A small volunteer social organization for mentally disabled adults, who themselves are also volunteers in nursing homes etc. Glæden has monthly get together arrangements with various activities for its members.
Your tasks in Glæden will be: Taking part of the monthly meetings, taking part in social activities with the mentally disabled and elderly people etc. Also there will be office tasks for you to do in Glæden like writing lists, making posters for social activities, food ordering etc. You will also be part of the planning of activities for and with the members of the organization.
Working hours: Normally between 9.00 (9.30) – 14.30 hours, however there will also be work late afternoons and evenings. Days off: Holidays in Denmark and by appointment with the mentor and/ or the leader of KlosterCaféen.

The volunteers will either live in a shared apartment or with a host family.
