Description of the Project

Kornmod Realskole is a private school that offers primary and secondary education for children from age 6 to 17. There is also a SFO (after school programme) that takes care of the younger children from the moment they get off school until they get picked up by their parents. The school is located in Silkeborg in the middle of Jutland and the students come from the surrounding area. It currently has around 640 pupils, 50 teachers, 2 pre-school teachers and 9 leisure-time teachers taking care of the younger students in the after school programme.

Kornmod Realskole has a high academic standard in all subjects. All of the traditional Danish subjects are taught in the school, but there are also creative maths, choir, and computer skills. In addition, more language lessons in English and German are offered than in traditional schools, and French is optional from 7th grade.

Silkeborg is situated in the middle of Jutland, and is beautifully surrounded by lakes and forests. Thus, outdoor life and nature-activities play a big part in the life of the locals. Silkeborg is home to about 50.000 citizens, and Kornmod Realskole is situated in the very centre of the town. Therefore, a variety of shops, museums and cafes are within a very convenient walking distance. Silkeborg is 40 minutes away by car or train from Denmark’s second biggest city, Aarhus, where you will find all the facilities of the big cities.
